This Report on the Situation of Thai Older Persons in 2021 is the second edition with a
\nspecial section on the impact of COVID-19 on Thai older persons. The pandemic remains
\nan important theme, as it exposes the vulnerability and inequality of the older generation
\nin societies around the world, and policymakers and the general public need to be more
\nfully aware of how Covid can erode the quality of life of older persons. Therefore, this
\n2021 report should be most beneficial to all parties concerned as Thailand continues
\nits effort to contain and control outbreaks, and the virus mutates into more transmissible
\nvariants. We can clearly see how COVID-19 has severely impacted the basic living
\nconditions of many people in society, even to the extent that a grim saying has emerged:
\n\u201cSome fear they will die of starvation before dying of COVID-19.\u201d This Report on the
\nSituation of Thai Older Persons in 2021 hopes to reflect the perspective of Thai older
\npersons, based on quantitative and qualitative data conducted by various agencies and
\nresearchers around the country.<\/p>\n
